Delivers Machine Data Analytics and Security through Integrations with Amazon Web Services, Accelerating Cloud Adoption
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – Oct. 1, 2015 – Sumo Logic, a leading cloud-native data analytics service, today announced integrations with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as part of its broader initiative called Continuous Intelligence. Continuous Intelligence is Sumo Logic’s approach to providing real-time, machine data analytics that generate business and operational insights to drive competitive advantage, business value and growth. Continuous Intelligence is an essential part of the operating model for hundreds of Sumo Logic customers who are trailblazers of the new services economy.
“The companies that will win over the next 10 years will be those that successfully make the shift to continuous innovation,” said Ramin Sayar, CEO of Sumo Logic. “These innovators are embracing all the benefits of the cloud, micro-services and the modern DevOps paradigm to deliver new, disruptive services. Unfortunately many companies struggle with the increased risk and complexity these new technologies and operating models introduce. Sumo Logic provides organizations with a purpose-built, cloud-native, machine data analytics service that transforms the velocity, variety and volume of unstructured machine data overwhelming them into rich, actionable insights, to address and diffuse complexity and risk.”
The Rise of the Software-Centric Business is Accelerating the Services Economy
The concurrent rise of the digital business, enterprise mobility and cloud computing has given way to a new breed of company that is intrinsically software-centric - using software applications to directly execute business strategy. While software-centric companies are disrupting markets through continuous innovation, a business model rooted in faster innovation cycles that can constantly deliver new, personalized services to customers can also increase complexity and require constant change for IT system environments. This requires a new approach to monitoring, managing and troubleshooting their IT and development environments.
Sumo Logic’s Continuous Intelligence approach enables all organizations to embrace continuous innovation by providing:
Data as the Solution
Continuous Intelligence can be achieved by leveraging real-time scalable data analytics to effectively manage the increased complexities and risk inherent in their software development and delivery practices.
“By 2018, 50% of global enterprises will have deployed machine learning technologies in support of two or more major ITOM functions, up from fewer than 10% in 2015[1],” wrote Colin Fletcher, research director, Gartner. “Gartner recommends that I&O leaders build and implement a strategic ITOA investment plan that emphasizes transformation of prioritized use cases as well as prioritize investments in machine learning/statistical pattern discovery and recognition (ML/SPDR) and unstructured text indexing, search and inference (UTISI) technologies for their transformative potential.”
Sumo Logic today is delivering the following new offerings to enable the continuous innovation for its customers through continuous intelligence:
The Sumo Logic App for Amazon VPC Flow Logs is now available for immediate deployment from the Sumo Logic Application Library for customers to process, analyze and visualize Amazon VPC Flow Logs, delivering deep visibility into network flows across their AWS infrastructure.
Sumo Logic’s new app for AWS Config provides visualizations and detailed insights for resource inventory, configuration history, and configuration change notification. The advanced dashboards help organizations visualize core operational information. The Sumo Logic App for AWS Config will be generally available on October 2015.
By integrating with the Amazon Kinesis Connector Library, the new Sumo Logic Kinesis Client Library enables real-time Amazon Kinesis data streams to be ingested directly by the Sumo Logic cloud-native platform. This real-time ingestion enables customers to process and visualize incredible amounts of real-time data in seconds from services such as Amazon CloudWatch Logs.
“We’ve been using Sumo Logic’s App for Amazon VPC Flow Logs to capture and analyze traffic flow for all of our network interfaces,” said Jarrod Sexton, security engineer at Interactive Intelligence. “However, the real value we’ve seen comes from leveraging both the Amazon VPC Flow Logs app and Amazon Kinesis Connector, as it allows us to send our data stream directly to Sumo Logic for real-time analysis.”
These new capabilities and existing integrations on AWS CloudTrail, Amazon S3/Audit, Amazon CloudFront, AWS Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) and others, reinforce the commitment Sumo Logic has to its customers moving workloads to AWS, to have deep visibility into those workloads and underlying AWS infrastructure operations, compliance, and security.
